THE PUBLIC SCHOOL.
The above school was examined by the Rev. Mr Douglas ou the 23rd ult, with the following result: — Standard V.—lna Stewart and W. Goodwin were equal. Standard IV—E. Pitcaithly l.Jos Budua 2. Standard lll.—Don Smith 1, W. Innes and D. Hunt equal, A. Hay 3. Standard 11. —T. Innes 1, J. Smith 2, A. Goodwin 3. Standard I -S. A. White I,G. Innes 2,M. Firmston 3. Attendance —Wm. Innes. (Examined by Mrs T. 0, Hay.) Sewing*-> First class—A. Stewart I,E. Pitcaithly 2. , Second class—A. Kay I,' L. Kay 2. Third class—M. Firmston 1, Elizabeth Innes 2. Fourth class—A. Knudaen 1, Marion Innes 2. Knitting—First class—E. Pitcaithly 1, L. Cross 2. Second class—L. Cross 1. Third class—E. Innes 1, M. Firmston 2, A. Firmston 3. Fourth cl»ss—A. Knudsen 1, M. Innes 2. The Rev Mr Douglas expressed himself pleased with the state of the school, lie regretted that he had not had more time to examine them. He regretted the Bible did not form part of the examination, but hoped that would come about yet. Mr Pitcaithly, in proposing thanks to the donors of the piizes, said it ga\e him satisfaction to bear the school had such a good repute. They were indebted to Messrs Montgomery, J. and R. Hay, 11. Piper, and Miss - Marshall. A treat was given to the children after the examination, in the shape of a good feed. Several ladies attended the tables, and justice was done the eatables. The prizes were then distributed, and after the singing by the children, the day's proceedings came to a close.
