FRENCH FARM ANNUAL SPORTS.
The annual sports and distribution of prizes to the pupils of Mr Baker's school, French Farm, took place on the grounds last Thursday. The following is the list of events and winners in the outdoor sports : — 100 yds Race, open to school—-Ist heat: 'd. Williams 1, IT. Williams 2; 7 entrfes. 2nd heat—Montgomery 1, Purchas 2. Final heat—Montgomery 1, Gr. Williams 2. 100 yds Race, ror boys under 13—Gr. "Williams 1, W. 0. Hamilton 2. A very close finish. 5 entries. 100 yds Race, for boys under 11— W. "Williams 1, R. Cobb 2. f> entries. Throwing Cricket Ball, open to school— Montgomery 1- 06 yds ; W. C. Hamilton 2. G entries. Qrifirfer-mPe Handicap, open to school —Montgomery (scratch) 1, Clarice (scratch) 2. 12 entries. Montgomery nm with great jinlLrui.'nt Mile Handicap, open to school—Olnrke (scratrhn, G. W\]\fo>n< (U)y<]<) 2. Sentries. The winner run'" tb* good style, and made capital time.
Ibe small boys, J. Williams and lt ( Cobb ran it out with great pluck Long Jump, open to school-r-Mont-gomery (I:2ft Sin) 1, Slack 2. 3 entries. High Jump, open to school—Montgomery (4ft oin) 1, Clarke 2 ; 3 entries. Veteran Visitors' High Jump—Mr 11. 11. Fenton (lft 6in) 1. Long Jump, boys under 13— G. Williams (lOfiTlOin) 1, Hamilton 2 ; 3 entries. High Jump, boys under IS—McDonald 7iu) 1, Hamilton 2 ; 4 entries. Handicap Steeplechase, llmile.s —Slack (40yds) 1, McDonald (140 yds) 2, Hamilton (80yds) 3 ; 11 entries. The race was run in very quick time, and most' of the boys were' well up at the finish, the two small boys again distinguishing themselves. Mil J. W. HAMir.TON's I'lU^Ro. Swimming Handicap, open to school— Clarke 1. Swimming Handicap, for beginners only Slack 1. Extra prize, J. Williams Handicap Walking Race, £mile, open to school—Clarice (scratch) 1, Hamilton 2 ; D entries. A very close race, the boys walking in capital style. At the close of the proceedings the prizes were distributed, Williams and Cobb receiving extra prizes for their plucky running.
