Melbourne, Nov. 29.
The conference of the Australian Colonies, now sitting, is making very favorable progress towards giving fuller scope for extending the powers of a proposed Federal Council in dealing with legal questions and mail and defence matters. A proposal has also been m ade to establsh a Federal Court of Appeal. Sydney, Nov. 29. The Cacozilia has arrived from the Solomon Group. Her commander nnd five seamen were killed by natives. The Ariel reported as missing has arrived, all well. A meeting has been called for the purpose of endeavoring to provide funds for Laycock in the match against Hanlan for the championship of the world. Mr Darginn, manager of a branch of the City Bank, has been arrested for the embezzlement of gold valued at £900.
