At the wool sales to-day 8,100 bales were offered, making a total of 36,900 bales catalogued eince the opening. The tone of the sale was firm. The sales close on December 11.
A fresh meat company has been etarted with a capital of £300,000.
Hanlan, the Canadian oarsman and champion sculler of the world, is now willing to row Laycock for £200. Laycock is seeking pecuniary help to enable him to make the match.
The British Parliament has been further prorogued to Januarj 6.
