Captain Barry has again received a 400-signature requisition to lecture. This time in Dunedin. A contemporary says: —The Captain has re-published the testimonial of his Timaru admirers, but he says nothing about the fact that tho purse of sovereigns to which it alludes consisted of a half-crOAVn and sevenpence i" coppers. After the lecture in Dunedin the Captain intends leaving*- for New South Wales, in order to identify Cr?sswell, avlio is iioav in the Lunatic Asylum at Paramatta, and avlio may have to be taken to England in connection with the Tichborne case. An Auckland paper says : —Mr James Pemberton, the winner of the first prize in Abbott's £5000 sweep on the Melbourne Cup, is a gum digger at Whangarei. He spent hislast£s in tickets,and then bartered the winning number to Mr Davis of the Kamo Hotel for two drinks. Whether MiDavis intends to stick to it has not as yet transpired.
