LITTLE RIVER SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
A meeting o£ the Little River School Committee was held in the Schoolroom on Saturday evening the 6th inst. Present, Messrs W. Coop (chairman), Juhnson, Walters, Smith, Jacohsen and Greenland. The minutes of tho ptevious meeting was read and confirmed. The following correspondence was read viz :—Prom the Bonrd of Education dated Oct. 11, applying for September quarterly returns. From same dated Oof 8, enclosing Inspector's report From satrie dated Oct. 25 in reply to letter of Oct. 6. stating that the Board had appointed Mr Lee to take charge of the school in place of Mr Westropp absent on leave, that no applications had been received for the post of assistant mistress, and that plans of the school had been prepared and tenders would be shortly I called for.
From Mr 11. D. Buchanan, enclosing £1 Is for cleaning school for Presbyterian Church.
From Wiliain Montgomery Esq., enclosing cheque for £3 3s. towards children's prizes.
From Mr Smart asking for a half holiday for the children on Tuesday the 9th instant to enable them to attend the Sunday school treat. Granted. From Mr Westropp, stating that he was getting on well and asking for further leave of absence, and that Dr Chapman would write to the Committee. From Dr Chapman as t j Mr Westropp. Tho following resolutions were then passed viz. :— That a cordial vote of thanks be given to Mr Montgomery for his liberal gift of £3 3a towards the children's prizes. That Mr Westropp's leave of absence be extended a fortnight. That the Chairman be requested to write to the Board of Education as to leave of absence to Mr Westropp. Accounts amounting to £5 18s 8d were passed for payment. Mr Johnson begged to resign his seat on the Committee, as he was leaving the district. The resignation was accepted, and Mr James Reynolds elected to his post. The meeting then terminated.
