The Akaroa Mail. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 12.
In compliance with numerous requests, the Akaroa dramatic amateurs will give another entertainment to-morrow evening. We hope that their efforts will be rewarded by a bumper house.
On Tuesday last, the children attending St. Peter's Sunday-school had a treat. The children, to the number of 120, accompanied by their teachers, proceeded to Mr Masefield's, and soon the paddocks and beach were covered by groups engaged in different games. The teachers provided tea for their classes, and a very good tea it was, and enormous was the quantity despatched. In addition to the tea, they had been indefatigable in the collection of prizes, and very liberal had been tho donations to the prize fund, so altogether the children had a good time of it. Hearty cheers for Mrs Masefield, who had done all in her power to make the day a success, and for the teachers, who had reallj' worked hard, brought the proceedings to an end.
The anniversary of the Congregational Church will be celebrated on Sunday next by two sermons, which will be delivered (morning and evening) by tho Rev. Mr Williams, of Christchurch ; and by a teameeting on Tuesday, when Mr Williams and other gentlemen will address the meeting, and the choir will discourse sacred songs. From what we hear of tie abilities of Mr Williams as a preacher, we have no doubt a large and attentive audience will assemble to hear him on Tuesday next.
There being no quorum at tho meeting of the Borough Council yesterday evening, it was adjourned until this evening.
There have been no further sittings of the R.M. Court since our last issue.
A meeting of the Akaroa School Com mitte will be held next Tuesday at 7 '60.
