An adverse vote bavins* been passed against the Government in the Chamber Deputies in regard to the execution of the March decrees against Jesuits and other clerical orders, Jules Ferri president of the Council, and his have tendered their resignation to President Grevy, who has accepted the same.

At a banquet at Guildhall last evening Mr Me Arthur M.P., new Lord Mayor, in the course of a speech referred to the Prince of Wales' inability to visit Australia; he said if His Royal Highness had made the journey he would have been surprised at the progress of the colonies.

Mr Gladstone, in replying to the toast of Her Majesty's Ministers, dwelt on the anxieties of the Government, which he said were chiefly in regard to Ireland.

The Government would deal with the grievances of the Irish people, but it was their first duty to maintain order, and additional power for this purpose would be asked for next Parliament.
