PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Pigeon Bay Road Board was held in the Board's offices last Saturday. Present : — Messrs liny (Chairman), PeUigrew, and Pifcaithly. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Chairman reported having made a progress payment to Mr Hodnctt, remarking that the work was progressing well, and well executed. A requisition (bearing 24 signatures) to call a meeting of ratepayers, was considered. Next Saturday, at one o'clock, WW appointed for the meeting, and the Clerk was instructed to make this known by advertisement in the Mail, and by public notice. COR«ISSI'ONI)£NCK. Letters were read— From Mr 11. Ilower, offering to act as cattle ranger for tho Board, but the Board saw no reason for accepting the offer. Fiom Mr Holmes, Christchureh, agent for Airs E. From Messrs Joynt and Perceval,Christchurch, enclosing a memorial to the Governor for signature. From same, acknowledging receipt of signed ir-einorial. From the samp, advising tho Board on some points regarding which they had been consulted. From Mr A. Firmslon, enclosing account for metalling the road under Woodill'ssea wall. The Board thought this account might make them liable for all others in the same connection, and the Clerk was directed to intimate this to Mr Firmston. From Mr A. I. McGregor, Akaroa, enclosing receipt for his account as the assessor. From surfaceman, enclosing monthly report and account. TAYMBNTS. Accounts to the amount of £35 3s were passed for payment. KATES. The Clerk having been instructed to issue to ratepayers as soon as possible notices of the amount of their assessment, the Board ndjourned.
