A mooting of this Hoard was hold on the above date at their ulli'-cs, Diivaiichcilc's Bay. Present :—Messrs Chappeil (in the chair), Piper. Shadbolt. and Williams. The minutes of lee pievious meeting were read and confirmed. INTKKViKVvS. Mr G. Breitmeyer w.-iited on the Board to ask for payment of compensation for land taken by the Board for the Horseshoe Bend diversion. It was decided to write to the Chief Surveyor, asking him to pick up the line, I so as to enable payment to be made. Mr Hunt wanted payment for his bridge contract, French Farm. Tho matter was left over till a 'ater stage of the meeting. Mr A. McPhail attended to complain of sonic sharp bends in Vungioni's contract Mount Bossu road, and asking for some improvements, as they were bad to get round ; also asking for payment for his Mount Bossu road contract. The Board decided that they could not entertain the first request. Tho second would be taken into consideration with tho payments. CORRF.SPONDKN'CK. Letters were read— From the Treasury, intimating that £140 19s 8d had been paid to the credit of the Board, being their share of the surplus laud revenue. From E. C. Latter, E;*q., re road through Mr Rhodes' property, stating that he had handed the Board's letter to Messrs Miles and Co. From the trustee in Kenny's estate, acknowledging receipt of £18 Is lid without prejudice. From the Chief Surveyor, stating that he found there were two roads laid out near Libeau's Pe:ik, both going towards Waikerakikari. and merging into one near the saddle. It was resolved to accept tho offer, and call for tenders for the work.

From the Public Works Department, calling attention to certain provisions in the Public Works Act 1880, relative to the stoppage, exchange, or sale of roads, which it was thought would materially simplify the mode of: procedure.

It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Shadbolt, to take steps under the now Act for Ihe stoppago of the old Duvauchelle's Pa* road.

From Mr IT. Hewer, ranger, suggesting that the Board should grant him a salarj'. The request was declined.

From Mr R. J. Knight, again calling attention to the state of the road to Children's Bay, and stating that if the Board would instruct their Clerk to report on the road, he would adhere to the offer contained in his former letter.

From the Pigeon Bay Road Board, asking tho co-operation of this Board in abolishing the County Council.

To be informed that the Board considers it has no power to deal with the matter.

From Mr G. Checkley, asking permission to form an approach to his property from the Onuku road, and also asking the Board to supply him with sufficient 9 inch pipes for the crossing. Ho further asked the Board to mako a footpath between Cemetery 139 and r.s. .776 as far as his gateway, or failing that, that they would grant him permission to do the work himself. Permission was cheerfully granted Mr Chcckley to do the work at his own expense. The Clerk was instructed to furnish him with some drain pipes. From Mr R. A. Stewart, complaining that he had to pay the ranger 10s for a eo\v straying. To bo informed that the Board could not interfere. r-OUND AT THE HEAD OF THE BAY. Mr Piper moved that (he County Council be requested to take into favorable consider lion the necessity of erecting a Pound at the Head of the Bay, Akaroa. Carried. M'\'KH.[,*S CLAIM. It was resolved to pay the award made in this case on McNeill's signing a ful* discharge. MAINT-'NANCB OF ROADS. Mr Williain-s called attention to the state of ihe Okain's Kn«d. lie , proposed that tho contractor for the maintenance be written to informing him that he must effect the necessary repairs at once, or fresh tender-- lie called for the woik Carried. PAYJIHNTS. Tho following accounts were passed for payment:—Hall and Sweeney, Summit road, progress payment, ,£120; Kedge and Wright, clearing Waikerakikari road, £30 18s lid ; J. Lines, Horse-shoe Bend, metalling, £24 19s ; J. Scott, labor on Lb Bon's Hay road,£2 9s ; W. McKay, Summit road, £20 ; A. F. Hawthorne, Flea Bay road, £18 8s 3d ; J. Bassett, painting stable, etc., £2 ;J. Bar wick, salary, £1G 13s 41 ; P. Shadbolt, Birdb'ng's road, £11. 8s Gd; J. Barwick, £1 14s; A. McPhail, Mount Bossu road, £53 10s ; T. Chappell, carting, £1 ; A. I. MaGregor, £2 ; P. Shadbolt, carting, etc., £2 4s; McNeill, compensation, £5. Tho Board then adjourned till the 30th of October.
