Brisbane, Sept. 30

In the Legislative Assembly last night, the Colonial Treasurer moved the {Second reading of a Bill to authorise the construction of Railways under the Land Grant System. ■ The measure provides for a grant of 8,000 acres per mile of line constructed in alternate blocks ; the line to remain the property of constructors. It is stated that if the Bill passes, a line of railway will be constructed to the Gulf of Carpentaria from Koma, which placets already connected by rail with Brisbane.
