STOCK REPORT.
Messrs 11. Matson and Co report:—At the Canterbury Saloyards on Wednesday there was a large attendance of the general public, and the quality of the stock •brought forward was good throughout. The number of stock penned for the weok's supply was 479G sheep, 503 head of cattle, and 55 pigs. Sheep.—ln fat sheep the 6.i10s " opened very dull, and there was but little improvement towards tho end, compared to last week's sale there was a drop of fully two shillings per head on prime shepr. Extra prime quality realised lfg'ld each; while the first shorn sheep of the season brought from 7s Gil to 9s Gd. We quote 2d per lb aa an average for this description.
Cattle.—ln cattle there were some prime lots submitted, but there was no improvement on last week's prices. Prime bullocks sold to as high as £11 10s per liead, good do from £8 5s to £9 10s. We 21a per 1001b as an average for good quality cattle. Stores. —There was a medium good supply of young stores brought forward, for which description competition was also dull, and many lots were passed in unsold. We quote two-year-old steers and heifers from £3 to £4 ss]'_per"lieft<i yeailings to £2 17a Gd.
