STOCK REPORT.

Messrs 11. Matson and Co. report :—

Tiiere was a fair attendance at the Aldington Yards on Wednesday, and the stock yarded comprised 2648 sheep, 656 cattle, and 5'J pigs. Tlio bidding , was brisk for sheep, but in other lines the market was inactive.

Sheep.—Tlic supply of sheep being rather smaller than usual, a rise equal to about la 5d per head all round was experienced. Tiiere wero no picked lots this woek, but :-rtiiJ the quality was good. Best erose-brnds sold as high as 20s 6.1, good do 15a 5d to lGn 51, merinos, 12-<. We qiiotfe mutton at 2;jd per lb There were no stored to hand worlh quoting. There is still a good demand for this class of stock.

Cattle.— The quality of the beef cattle yarded was very good, but the supply being in excess of requirements, many lots were turned out unsold. Extra prime heavy weights realised £13 lO.s and we quote bu»£ at 21a per 1001b. Stores were in lar#e supply, and there was rather n scarcity of buyers. Two or three yea? olds wold at from ji2 17h 61 to ,£;J 5a ; orn* ami two year olds i>2 5d to £2 10s ; calves, £1 10s to £1 IS*.

Pigs.—The supply being snmll, ihe bidding was pretty brink, the prices obtained ranging up to £3 10a.
