WOOL, SHEEPSKINS, HIDES AND TALLOW REPORT.
Messrs H. Matron and Co report:—On Thursday, at our Canterbury Wool Stores, we held our usual weekly sale of the above. There was an average attendance of fellmongers, and no doubt owing to the reports from the English markets still continuing favorable, biddings were very spirited and values may be quoted at a slight advance upon last week's ratos. Oar catalogue consisted of 2894 sheepskins, 111 bags rough fat, 84 hides, a few bales and bags wool, and packages of tallow, every line being quitted at fair and even values throughout, and at the following quotations, viz.:—Butchers'best crossbred skins made 6s to 6s 7d each ; second quality, 4« 9d to 5s lid each ; medium 3s to 4s 7d each ; butchers' best merinos made 5s to 5b 6d each; second quality, 3s 9d to 3s lid each ; medium, 2s fid to 3s 8d each ; butchers' best rough fnt, 24d to 2|d per lb ; second quality, 2d to 2|d per lb ; inferior, l|d to lfd per lb ; hides, 3jjd per lb ; calfskins, 4d per lb; tallow, from £d to 2£d per lb ; wool, from 3£d to Bd.perlb.
