In the House of Commons the Hares and Rabbits Bill has passed through Committee. August 21. The cricket match between the Australians and Eighteen of Scarborough was resumed to : day. The second innings of the Australians was alone necessary to complete the match, and they were all disposed of for 80 runs, leaving the Scarborough men victors by 90 runs. Calcutta, August 20. The report received yesterday, that Ayoub Khan had attacked the citadel at Candahar and been repulsed, is now proved to be devoid of foundation. August 21. General Stewart has arrived, and is quartered at Jellalabad. General Frederick Roberts passed through Ghuznee unopposed, but reports say that | Mahomed Hassirn kept hovering on his flank during the march. General Phayre has started with his relief force from Khojuk.
