CORN EXCHANGE REPORT.
The following is the report for the week ending Friday erening, August 20 :— Potatoes. —There is a total absence of desire on the part of the trade to do buainefis. Tho stocks held bj the farmers are heavy. There is no inducement to ship to the Sydney market. As the season advances there will be a slacker demand, and consequently the present rates are not likely to be maintained. Since laet week> report the price has fallen. For potatoes in prime condition values cannot be quoted over £1 to £1 2s Gd per ton. Grans Soed. —For rye-grass there has been a fair demand. Well-cleaned samples are offered at from 2s ikl to 3n ; medium, to inferior, at 2s Gd to Is Gd per bushel. Cliche and Cutter.—The former is ottered freely from 4d te 4f,d per b.
Butter is in good supply at 8J to per lb, with a slack enqu.ty. Hay,—soa to 55s per ton, delivered in town.
