AKAROA MUTUAL IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION.
■k To tlie Editor of tl\& Akaroa Mail. Sin,-—I noticed my friend Robert Straw, some two and-a-half. months past, wroce ■* to you concerning the revival of the Mutual Improvement Association, and not finding any chance for its being resuscitated for the present winter wrote another letter, suggesting that thoro being <* apparently no chance of the Association' coming to life again, a meeting, might be called by the President to wind up the concern, and to give tho late Treasurer a chance of handing orer 'a statement of accounts, together with the balance of money he had on hand. Ky friend' further stated v that the late Treasurer held something like £6 of the money belonging to the As'sbeia-" tion, while tbe present" Treusure-r had paid £3 odd out o'i his own packet ou, .behalf of the Association, which majs had uot been refunded him. h- I thought, [sir, that each a biter, making such plain, direct stateni.'jrus, would have had tho desired effect, but 1 find, after waiting all this time', that nothing what" ever has been dona ir: the matter. Can you suggest the best meant; to biing about the desired result, viz., a winding-up of tho
Association, seeing the hopelessness of its being put into working order again; a clear statement of its finances ; and a refund of the money lent by the present Treasurer ?—I am, etc., FIAT JUSTITIA. [We have no doubt the President of tbe dormant or defunct Association would call a meeting if requested'to l do sb.—Eb. A.M.Y '
