THE AKAROA WHARF.
* To the Editor of the. Akaroa Mail. Sir,—Some four months ago the greater portion of the time devoted to the meetings of the Borough Council was taken up in discussions relating to tho Akaroa wharf. steps were taken in the matter prior to his resignation. Letters were written on the subject to the Government, and replies received, which indeed appeared favorable to the wishes of the Council. Had the blow been, struck when the iron was hot something might have resulted, and, as according to general opinion, matters could not be worse than they are now and were then, the something must have been—qualified—good.
Unfortunately, however, so far at any rate as the matter to which I allude was concerned, Mr C. W. Bridge resigned without waiting to see the object for which he had been so manfully striving achieved, and apparently the whole affair ia allowed to drop. Can you inform me, sir, of the present actual state of affairs ?
