To the Editor of the Akaroa Mail. gir,—I notice in your last issue of the Mail a letter signed " Ratepayer" in which be appears to be under some misapprehension as to the travelling expenses paid to members of the Akaroa County Council. As his letter is likely to mislead the public, I have written this to inform "Ratepayer" and 'the white generally tint all members nre paid travelling expenses, one way (wiih the exception of the Chairman, who has heretofore had an honorarium voted to him at the expiration of his term of office), on the following scale—at a certain rate per mile for ten miles, which they nre perfectly entitled to under "The CounMcs Act Amendment Act. 1877." fly inseriinjr this yon will oblige, Yours.
