Christchurcb, Friday Evening. Inactivity is the chief feature at the moment, while the tone of the market has not been improved by the latest cablegrams from Home. Sellers are slow to Tecognize the drop, and rather tlaan accept continue to ship. The scarcity of tonnage has once more come to the surface, and large quantities of wheat are being sent into store at Port and elsewhere. Wheat.—Prices have steadily dropped since our last report, and transactions during the week have net been of an extensive character. Sellers are averse to quitting at the rates ruling, while buyers are equally guarded in purchasing. Wheat ranges from 3s 6d to 3s Bd, while for choice seed lots 3s 9d can be got.

Oats are without alteration, and are quoted at Is 3d to Is 5d for feed, and Is 6d for milling. The lots coming forward are principally bought for local wants. Barley.—First-class is quoted at 3s 6d ±o 3s 9d. Other kinds range between 2s 6d to 3s.

Flour is quoted at £9 10s to £11. Potatoes. —Sales are being made at 25s to 30s, but growers are not pushing at ..these prices. Grass Seed. —Large sales of cocksfoot 1 -have been made during the week at prices withheld, but which are understood' to range between 2d and 2£d, according to purity of seed. Rye grass is still quoted ; at 2s to 2s 6d, but business has been 1 restricted. Dairy Produce. —Cheese 4d to sd. Butter in good demand at B£d to 9d. Honey is now being-offered by growers in moderate quantities, and all brought forward finds a ready sale at 3§d to 4d.
