PIGEON BAY.
(from our own correspondent.)
•There appears to be a dearth; of news at present. The want of a market for the grass seed, or indeed for any other saleable thing, has a' depressing effect/ so that matters are*tojnowhat;.__t. This is such R time as- shows *the necessity, of making hay while; the sun shines, or of" laying up for a rainy day. There is always some cause for thankfulness. We are not so badly off aa "they have been in the old country, and we should not have been as we are were it not for the Immigration mania which had so possessed our late rulers as to dispossess their discretion. Last Sabbath tbe Communion waa dispensed to tbe Presbyterian congregation in the Bay, when a very appropriate sermon wad preached by the Rev. Mr Douglas. ~lt was a good day, and the attendance was very fair, though the number communicating was not large.
On the evening of tbe same day and in the same place of meeting the Rev. MiHarris, Episcopal clergyman, Christchurch, preached from the words—" Yet a little while aud ye shall Bee me, and again a little while and ye shall not sea me, because I go to the Father," and he also dispensed the rite of baptism.
