Although this is conthe largest market we have had proportion of mutto'i very prime lots a fair atbiddings

opened briskly at Is per head under last week's exceptionally high rates, or about the same amounts over the average prices of the past two or three months. The Glenmark cross-hreds, a useful line of sheep, brought 9s. G.I to 10s; 280,10s 2d to 10rf 6d, and a small picked lot of extra heavy cheep to 12s. Merino mutton has been in better demand for several weeks, wethers realising 7s to 8a 6d. The Rales made yesterday in store sheep exhibited a firmness, and in some an improvement over late ruling rates. Wβ placed 750 big framed and four-tooth store croes-breds at 7b 6d; 800, mixed ages and sexes, at 7s 3d; 920, aged crossbred ewes, at 5s 7d ; 255 old cult merino do, at 2a Gd ; sound mouthed young do, up to 5s 6d, and sundry small lines at equal values; altogether we look upon the sheep pale as being a moat satisfactory one. About 250 fat lambs were penned, but the season being nearly over, the bulk were taken for store purposes at from 4a 6d to 6e per head. Of beef the supply was comparatively email, but inplnded a few pens of prime quality. Of these the bulk were sold privately before the auction, and for the lighter and inferior classes competition was very dragging, and not more than 18s per lOOlbs can be quoted, prime to 21s. There was a large entry of store cattle, comprising several large lines of good yearlings arid two-year-olds, which found buyers with a ready sale, the former up to £3 3s, the latter to £5 7a 6d.
