[Special to the Mail] Melbourne, March 18. Mr David Syme, proprietor of the Melbourne Age, has instituted an action against the proprietors of the Melbourne Punch for libel. The damages are laid at £5000. Sydney, March 18. The steamer Chandenasjore lias arrived here after landing party at New Ireland. It is understood that two steamers with a thousand adventurers will follow shortly from Rome and Barcelona. The original prospectors of the expedition state that it is intended to appropriate North-western Australia. The Queensland National Bank has received a telegram from Londou to the effect that the floating of the proposed Queensland loan has been postponed until after the forthcoming general election in England, as it is feared the excitement attending the same might endanger the success of the loan. - Adelaide, March. 16.
