FROM THE LYTTELTON TIMES.

Christchurch, Friday Evening. GRAIN AND PRODUCE.

The grain market during the week has been moderately active.

Wheat has eased a shade, and buyers are not offering over 3s 9d for good milling lots. An extra fine sample might fetch an additional Id.

Oats.—There is very little doing in this grain, farmers not caring to bring forward parcels at the rates ruling unless compelled. We repeat our quotation of Is 4d to Is 5d for feed, Is 6d to Is 7d for milling.

Barley.—A considerable number of samples are being brought forward. Buyers are offering 3s 3d to 3s Gd for average quality. First-class commands an advance on these quotations—say of Id to 2d. 1 Flour is quoted at £1010 ato £11 10s. Grass Seed. —Rye grass is without at-tentioßj-.and there is little chance of an improvement in prices for some time to come. ' "Values, range from 2s to 2s 6d, according to condition of seed. Cocksfoot is selling at 2£ to 3d. Dairy Produce.—Butter, 6d to 6^d; cheese, 4£d to s£d ; hams and bacon,, 10d. In contrfißt to these quotations, we publish the following extract from the Otago Daily Times , commercial summary for England by to-day's mail:—Wheat is very dull up to 4s 8d for prime milling, ordinary and inferior, 4s to 4s Gd ; fowls' feed, 3s to 3s 9d. Oats are in limited demand, at Is 9d for milling, and Is 7d to Is 8A for good feed. Barley—Some little business has been done in the new crop at 4s Bcj to 4s 10d for very primo samples malting.
