The Akaroa Mail. TUESDAY, MARCH 2.
The Government steamer Hinemoa is expected to arrive here this morning from the south. His Excellency the Governor is on board, so that Akaroa will probably have the long promised Vice-regal visit, though as no notice has been given, there will be no time for any formal reception to be organized.
A cricket match took place on Saturday last, at French Farm, between an eleven of that place and a team from Akaroa. The latter were victorious by about fifteen runs. The game was a highly enjoyable one, and the play of Messrs Baker, Fen-ton, and Wood was much admired.

Very few notices of objection have been.put in. Wβ beg to draw the attention of our readers to an announcement of a sale by auction of the balance of Mr Caterer's stock •of drapery. We have inspected it ourselves, and can recommend the same. The sale is to commence tomorrow at noon, and Mr C. W. Bridge will officiate. The usual quarterly meeting of the Financial Committee of the Presbyterian Church, Akaroa, was held last Friday evening. The minutes of the former meeting were read and confirmed. Mr Douglas intimated that Mr Yewen had given up the cleaning andj lighting of the churoh. The Committee accepted Mr Yewen's resignation, and ordered his account to be paid. The lists were opened containing the names of nominees for the new Committee, and the following were found to have had the majority of votes, viz., Dr Guthrie, Messrs Dalglish, Bruce, Blacky Roulston, Curragh, and S. Fyfe. The income from last quarter's collections and subscriptions amounted to £21 odd, and the expenditure to about £31, leaving a debit balance of £10. It was agreed that all other accounts be paid, and that the deficiency should pass to the salary's account. Several subscriptions due were reported not yet received, and an adjourned meeting appointed to be held on Monday, March 8, same hour and piece, to appoint the officers of the new Committee and to take over the books f .om the present Secretary. Surprise was expressed that the late treasurer had not given in any statement, and it was hoped this would be done by the Bth, so that the books might be properly balanced. It was intimated that Mrs Brown had kindly undertaken cleaning, &c, in the meanwhile, and Mrs Brown's oiler was gladly accepted. The meeting then closed.
