PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of this Board was held in the Board's office, on Saturday, February 7, 1880.

Present—Messrs Hay (Chairman), Pettigrew, Budua, and M'lritosli.

On the motion of Mr Budua, the new schoolmaster (Mr D. Stewart) was appointed Clerk to the Board. The Chairman reported what new arrangement, as authorized by last meeting of the Board, the Engineer and himself had made with the contractor for the seawall at the head of the bay.

Mr J. Nash had tendered £2 10s for the cocksfoot grass seed on the Akaroa road, and his offer was accepted.

The new Pound erected had, during the month, examined by the Engineer and Chairman, and passed, and the contractors had been paid the balance still due.

The Road Boards of Port Levy and Pigeon Bay, accepting the alterations of boundary suggested by the Chief Surveyor, the Clerk was instructed to communicate this to the County Council.

The sum of £300 received from the Council for the Port Levy and Pigeon Bay lload Boards was lodged in the Bank in the namo of the latter Board.

Mr Greo. Breitmcyer, of Akaroa, in a letter to the Board, solicited payment of a lapsed account, but the Board could not recognize his claim.

Mr Fenton, C.E., wrote to the Board, expressing some dissatisfaction with the work on Upton's contract, and advising the Board to defer payment in full in the meantime. A letter from Mr Robertson, storekeeper, was handed in, complaining of the report in the Akaroa Mail of last meeting of the Board. By mistake he appears to have been represented as paying no road rates. The Board accepted the oiler of Mr A. I. M'Gregor, of Akaroa, to make up the rate roll for the Board. On the motion of Mr M'lntosh, seconded by Mr Pettigrew, Mr Budua was deputed to call upon the Misses Marshall in reference to burying some dead cattle on the road side, and also the removal of some gorse from the road. The Board decided to call for tenders for the making of a road between Holmes' Bay and Port Levy. In addition to the above, and some other minor matters, some accounts had been paid during the month, and some more were passed for payment at the meeting. The Board then adjourned.
