COMMERCIAL.

FROM TIIE LYTTELTON TIMES. Cliristchurch, Friday Evening GRAIN AND PRODUCE.

The grain market during the past week has borne a more bustling aspect than has been the case fur some time past, which forcibly argues that tho real business of the season is close at hand. Full advantage is being taken by the farmers of the splendid weather in reaping, stacking, and threshing, and in about a fortnight hence we ma)' expect to see deliveries coming forward by rail freely. Wheat.—Some considerable transactions for shipment by vessels about to load, have taken place at a price f.0.h., which it is understood is equal to 3s lOd to 3s lid in Christchurch.

Oats. —Threshing is going on vigorously, but as yet lew parcels have come down by rail. Values quoted last week remain unaltered.

Parley.—The samples of barley that have come forward up to tho present have only been of medium quality. Sales have transpired at 3s 3d to 3s Gd. No really jirst-class samples have yet been shown, and prices for this c'ass'arc rather undetermined more especially as some of the brewers are not pressed for grain. Grass Seed.—Buyers are still disinclined to operate, and rye-grass can only be sold at forced rates. Good samples are quoted at 2s 3d to 2s (id ; mixed 'ots, 2s.

Dairy Produce. — Butter, Gd to 7d ; cheese, 5d to Md.
