RAILWAY DEPUTATION.
To the Editor of the Akaroa Mail. Sir, —I am sorry to hear that Mr Latter is not on the deputation for the object above. An objection was made that as a Government officer he could not act. I fail to see why this should be so. There is nothing antagonistic or anything that would interfere with his duty to the Government. He has a large stake here, and more than this, he has been connected with all public movements for many years, and has a very intimate acquaintance with public proceedings. Looking at the personnel of the members of the deputation, I think no harm would be done by making a little addition to the intelligence of the district. This would be accomplished by including Mr Latter, as all must admit his competency to make all our wants known to the Minister in a clear and concise manner.—Yours, &c, FOSCO.
