Friday, Dec. 12. (Before Justip Aylmer, Esq., R.M.) FURIOUS riding.

John Dunn was charged with this offence. ' ,7

It appeared that he had been showing off the power of his trotting , pony " Merry legs." On behalf of the defendant, Mr O'Reilly admitted the facts, but pleaded that defendant did not know. he was infringing any law in what he had done. Fined 20s and costs;

David Wright, jun., on a similar charge, was mulcted in a like amount.

W. Connor, for the same offence, while the worse for liquor, was fined 40s ;and costs.

William Page was charged with being drunk and disorderly on the previous day (Sunday). Defendant pleaded guilty, but as he had been locked up for twenty-four hours, he was dismissed with a caution. CATTLE TRESPASS. R. Baley, E. Staples, T. Feltham, A. Wiggins and J. Le Clerc were each fined 5s and costs for this offence. A similar charge against John Castle was dismissed, as lie did not appear, and the constable who served the summons was not present. DRUNKENNESS, WILFUL DESTRUCTION OF " PROPERTY, AND ASSAULT. James Anderson and Richard Rayner were charged on three informations with the above offences. The occurrence took place at the Head of the Bay on Saturday, the 6th instant. From the evidence of Constable M'Gorman and Mr Brooks, of the Somerset Hotel, it appeared that prisoners were behaving violently, especially Anderson. On being threatened with being put out, Anderson had threatened to " hammer" Brooks. After the}' were -ojscted, a pane of glass was smashed. They had each of them also assaulted one George Giddons, in presence of the constable. ' For the drunkenness they were each fined 10s; for the assault 20s each ; and for breaking the window, Anderson was fined 10s, and ordered to pay the damage, 2s; to pay costs in each case, with the usual alternative of imprisonment.
