STOCK AND STATIONS.
Owing to the unusually large supply of grass throughout the country, stocks are •coming forward in first-class condition, and in consequence there has been a great drop in prices of. both sheep and. cattle of this description.
At the Addington yards on Wednesday, "8769 sheep, 584 head of cattle, and 54 pigs wero yarded.
Sheep.—On account of the very large supply of fat sheep there was a considerable drop in prices compared with last week's market. Prime quality lots of fat crossbreds (shorn) realised 9s each ; good ditto from 7s to 8s 3d ; light weights from 6s to 6s 3d. We quote l£d per lb as an average for fat sheep. Cross-bred ewes (in the wool) with lambs at foot sold from 7s to 10s 6d.
Cattle.—Another large supply of fat cattle was penned, and the result was a further drop in prices. Prime fat bullocks realised £9 10s, ditto lighter weights, from £7 10a to £8 s*. We quote from 20s to 23s per IOOSbs as an average for fat cattle. Stores—A fair' lot of stores come to hand, but in consequence of the scarcity of buyers, the bulk was passed in unsold.
