COMMERCIAL.
FROM THE LYTTELTON. TIMES. Christchurch, Friday Evening. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. The past week has not been characterised by much activity, and transactions have been on as meagre a scale as marked the previous week. ~ Wheat. —Little businesl has been done, and prices continue on the same basis, viz. 4s 9d to ss. Chick wheat has been sold in small lots at 3s 6d to 4s Id, according to condition. Oats remain about last week's values, Is 10d to 2a for feed ; milling, 2s to 2s 2d. Melbourne advices report a weak market, and the presence of considerable shipments from Australia. Flour.--A fair business in this has been done at £12 10s to £13.
Grass Seed cutting has commenced, and the yield will be heavy. Opening rates have not yet come under much notice, but it ia pretty generally accepted that the price will bo a long way under that of last year. Dairy Produce.—Butter is coming to hand in quantity, .and prices are consequently not 80 strong. For good samples 7d to 7£d is the price asked. Cheese ia also offering freely at 5d to 6d. Hams and bacon remain about the same.
