CORN EXCHANGE REPORT.
The following is the report of the Corn Exchange for the week ending Friday evening, Nov. 28:— The crops throughout Canterbury, with the exception of a few low-lying -swampy.:, places, are reported as magnificent. The probability of the grain suffering drought is now placed beyond all doubt.'' The yield this year will be the heaviest known for years. Wheat.--Prime milling samples have] changed hands at 4s 104 to 4s lid, while J second-rate and weak samples will not; command over 4s 6d to 4s 7d. Chick feed i is worth 4s per bushel. ■;] Oats.—Feed samples are worth 2s to 2s.j 2d ; milling quality, 2s 3d to 2s 4d - inferior feed sorts will not Is lOdto Is lid. Barley.—No business is doing. Malting operations are now completely suspended,, -and, as the season is almost too far advanced for sowing, no quotations can be given. Potatoes.—Stocks are now almost com-. >pletely exhausted, and-with the exception of a few small lots none are offering. A 'demand still exists, and purchasers have to give £6 to £6 10s, according to quality. The demand will continue from a fortnight to three weeks yet, when the new -early potatoes will take their place. Cheese and butter.—s±d to Bd'for.th© former, 6d to" 7d for the fatter. !
