Sik, —I notice that in your .report of the meeting of the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board held on the Bth inst., you say that I agreed to the Board retaining the deposit on'the Horsehoe Bend contract (amounting to] £17'4s). This I distinctly deny. I was informed by the Board that a resolution to the effect that they intended to retain the deposit, but 1 did not agree to it. By inserting this" you will oblige, Yours, &c.
