LOCAL MARKETS.
Messrs Robert Wilkin and Co. report:— At. the Aldington Yards on Wednesday, 5543 sheep and 609 head of cattle were submitted for sale. Owing to the dullness of the fat sheep sale, many lots were passed.in unsold. In cattle there was an -improvement npon last weeks prices, which was more noticed in the stores. Wβ sold on behalf of some of our clients as follows :—Prime cross-breds shorn, 10s 4d each ; good do, 8s 6d ; merinos, shorn, 6s Bd ; stora ewes, in wool, 7s 3d : ; fat steers, from £9.t0 £9 10s; fat heifers, from £7 to £8. ' ■ ' • .' ' ' ' Sheepskins.—At our sale yesterday 3191 skins were catalogued. There was a large attendance of buyers, and prices were ■ good as follows : —Butchers' crossbred, large, 4s to 4s lid each ; do medium, 3s 2d to 4s ; 'small, 2s to 3s 2d ; butchers' t merino, large, 3s9dto 4s 5d ;;do small, Is .-— —Gd to 2s 10d. country skins, Is to 4s 3d ; lambskins, 2d to 6d. . . Tallow.—There was a fair attendance of buyers, with an improvement in prices. Best clean, weir saved, to 2£d per lb ; second qnality,to lfd per lb ; inferior and heated, to Hd per lb.
