The following anecdote is fjom the Sydney Courier :—A well-known legislator was having a conversation about our land laws, and on asking the result of some tentative piece of legislation which he was hypothetically putting to his friend, the latter, who is a gentleman, and has had Home education, said—" Well, Mr Blank, it would take (Edipus to solve that," The pride of our Legislative House said —" An Octopus, Sir." " Who the Hades was talking of Octopusses ?" and, notwithstanding profuse explanations, he walked off in high dudgeon. Of such are our lawmakers in New South Wales.
