LOCAL MARKETS.

Messrs Robert Wilkin and Co. report:— At the Addington Yards on Wednesday, 5015 sheep, 257 head of cattle and 368 pigs were yarded. The supply of prime quality, fat cattle and sheep was above the average. In sheep prices ruled about equal to last week's rates, whilst there was a drop in fat cattle owing to the importations from "Wanganui. We sold fat steers from £9 lOj to £11 10s. Fair quality, fat crossbred sheep, to as high as 10s 3d each ; well bred pigs to 35s oach. At our weekly sale to-day]2o9l skins were catalogued,of which 109 were unsold. There was the usual attendance of buyers with good prices. Butchers' cross-bred, large well woolled, 4s 3d to 5s each ; do do medium. 3s 6d to 4s 3d ; do do small and inferior, 2s to 3s 6d ; do merino, large well woolled, 3s lOd to 4s 4d ; do do, ine.liuna, 2s 9d to 3s lOd ; do do, small and inferior, ls 3d to 2s 9d ; country merino to 3s Gd ; country crossbred to 4s 6d. Tallow.—There was a full attendence of buyers, and prices were firm and even, as follows, viz., best clean well saved to 2£d per lb ; second quality I|H per lb ; inferior and heated to l|d per lb. Hides unsold ; calfskins, 4d ; cut and damaged, half price.
