COMMERCIAL.

FROM THE LYTTELTON TIMES. Christchurch, Friday Evening.

GRAIN AND PRODUCE,

The week has been barren of any business calling for an extended notice. Values of every kind remain about the same, with only a moderate inquiry to report. Wheat.-The quantity offering being limited, what business had been done has passed through second hands chiefly. Best milling is quoted at 4s 9d, the principal buyers having been the millers, whose stocks are running short. Other descriptions range from 4s 6d to 4s Bd. Sales of seed samples are becoming less frequent, owing to the approaching close of the sowing season. Oats.—Considerable parcels have been offered during the week, and prices are if anything weaker. For feed we quote 2s t3d'to 2s 4d ; milling, 2s 6d. Barley.—There has been a slight enquiry for seed samples within the last few days, and a few small lines have been placed at 5s 6d to 6s. Of first-class none is obtainable, but good malting is worth 6s to 6s 3d. Potatoes.—Sales continue to be made at £3 5s to £3 10s. Flour is in fair demand, and prices are unaltered, viz-, £12 to £13. Oatmeal is quoted at £14. Grass Seed is rather quieter, and values remain at 4s to 4s 6d for good ; inferior, 3s 6d to 4s.
