"The following is the report of the Corn Exchange for the week ending Friday evening, August 8:— The business done in grain and produce during the week has been very limited. The ail vices from the intercolonial markets are encouraging, and better rates are ruling. These markets evince great firmness, ■ except in oats.; in this line there seems to be a dull sale, and at -unprofitable rates to shippers. Wheat.—There is a very brisk inquiry for seed purposes ; good clean samples for seed (particularly Tuscan,) meet with ready sale at 4s 6d per bushel ; milling samples are free of sale at 4s to 4s 3d per bushel. Oats. —Prices remain at last week's quotations —feed, 2s 6d to 2s 7d ; and milling at 2s 8d to 2s 9d per bushel. Malting Barley.—Prime malting commands. 5s 9d lo 6s .; medium, 4s 6d to 5s 6d ; feed, 2s 6d to 3s 6d per bushel. Potatoes. —The market shows signs of great firmness. There are numerous enquiries for export. The supply of early kinds is very bare. Kidney sorts -are saleable for seed at £9 to £10 per ton ; blue Derwents are free of sale at £3 10s per ton. The market ha 3an upward tendency. There is a strong feeling that higher rates will rule. Grass Seed.—The demand for all kinds of grass seed has improved. First-class rye grass is in short supply. There are a few export orders unexecuted. The market closes firm at 5s to 5s 6d for prime samples ; and for medium, 4s 6d to 5s per bushel. Cheese, Butter.—The enquiries are limited. Sales of cheese have been made at 6d to 6£, d and butter at 8d to 9d per lb.
