AKAROA AND WAINUI ROAD BOARD.
Saturday, June 7. A meeting of this Board was held on tho above date at their offices, Duvauchelle's Bay. Present — Messrs Williams (Chairman), Chappell, Curry, and M'Donald. INTERVIEWS. Messrs Odell and W. Curry waited on the Board to ask what they intended to do with reference to forming a road to his house. The matter was allowed to stand over, Mr Odell promising to communicate with Mr B. Lelievre on the matter, with reterence to closing the old road. Mr W. Wright was also in attendance, to make an application in reference to the road through Khodes' ilat. It was arranged to call a public meeting to take into consideration the closing of the old road. Mr G. Armstrong, jun. attended to ask for a road to his property from the German Bay road. The Board promised to have the matter attended to as soon as possible. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. VANGIONI'S CONTRACT. A further report from tbe Engineer on this contract was read, in which he stated that he saw no reason to alter his former recommendations, which he accordingly returned. It was resolved that the contractor be called upon to complete the work. RHODES , FLAT EOAD. A letter was read from Mr E. C. Latter, on behalf of Mr Rhodes, declining to consent to a second road being taken through his land, but offering to give land for land. The Clerk was directed to write to Mr Fenton, requesting him to prepare tho necessary plans, after which a public meeting should be called. latter's diversion. The Engineers wrote regretting that they had been unable to have these plans ready for the meeting, in consequence of the unfavorable state of the weather. WAIKERAKIKARI ROAD. Mr Jules Lelievre wrote, offering to leave the question of any compensation for land that the Board might require for this road to Messrs Chappell and Duxbury. The offer was accepted. HORSE. SHOE BEND. The Engineer forwarded the following memo in regard to this work, while certifying to a progress payment: — " I gave this contract a thorough examination yesterday. There is a great deal of work to Ibe done yet. Tlie filling across the embankment is as yet almost untouched. Ido not think the work can be brought to a successful termination under the present contract. I think it would be advisable for the Board to enquire of the contractor what are his views on the matter. •H. H. Fenton. " June 7, 1879." MOUNT BOSSU ROAD. On the motion of Mr M'Donald. it was resolved to call for tenders for the lower portion of this road through Mr M'Kay's property. WAIKERAKIKARI ROAD. Mr Chappell proposed that the bush on this road from the Beach to Gough's Bay Saddle be cleared to a width of a chain. The motion did not meet with a seconder. MISCELLANEOUS. Tenders were ordered to be called for certain works, particulars of which appear in our advertising columns. The Engineer was instructed to grade and prepare specifications for the Summit road from Le Bon's to Long Bay Saddle. PAYMENTS. The following accounts were passed for,, payment: — T.
