TINTINABULUM; &c., &c.

To the Editor of the Akaroa Mail

Sir, —Will you kindly allow me space for a word or two. Your original correspondence in last issue is more than usually interesting to me. lam told that at Little River in a few more months there will be a resurrection of " stumps ;" that the expectation of a visit from Sir Hercules would surely act as a tonic to our energies ; that it is an astounding fact that the mind gets expanded by being a councillor ; that there is at least one patriotic individual in the Akaroa Borough Council; that a supposed attorney is merely an agent, and goes on to say—but this won't do, Mr Bell having offered a road free of cost if a Road Board would pay £80 to get it through Mr Inman's. Dear Mr Editor, at last I am fairly puzzled whether the cause is my usual dose of Long-Johns taking more than its ordinary effect, but I cannot really understand the teriwirings of " Grubum " and "Enquirer." Norwhy "The Goddess" should abandon the old loves. Have another " Try," Venus dear, do. " Grubum," pray re-tackle the stumps ; and " Enquirer," continue thy researches, for this busy little world of ours is anxiously waiting for the exegesis. Yours, &c, EUMOLPUS.
