ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.

isn't it. Thanks, Mr Editor, for the privilege. Yet, in common fairness to each * other, we ought to state facts only. Yet, " Enquirer" cannot be aware that there is such a person as a Government Auditor and a system of keeping accounts in vogue which are totally at variance with his random assertions. Why does not " Enquirer" come out and fight in" the open, i.e., disclose his name ; he appears to be a rare braggadocio behind a paling fence. Why does he not act as the Akaronians have dofie—petition the present Chairman to call a public meeting, and I'll be bound the late Chairman will be the first to sign such a requisition, and also to attend the meeting and answer for himself. Or, if " Enquirer" prefers a milder course, I am quite sure that if he will inquire of the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board for any information he needs in regard to this or any other matter, provided also that he is a civil ratepayer and does not attempt to dictate, that that body will give him a patient hearing and every assistance to elucidate his inquiries. Youre, &c, \ ONE WHO HAS INQUIRED INTO THE AFFAIR.
