WAINUI SADDLE ROAD.
To the Editor of'~th~e'Akaroa Mail./ ;SiR, —Asa ratepaper says Wainui has not had its share, we will therefore com* pare it with another* part of the' district round to Long Bay, and see how, it looks. Take the Eastern side of the harbour from the Akaroa Heads round to Long Bay, and see what has been done there in the shape of-roads. Why simply there has riot been £100 spent in that direction for the last fifteen years, and a more disgraceful road is not on the Peninsula than the present road (save tbe mark) to tlie'Heads. It is disgraceful alike to the Road Board and to those living in the "district for* riot compelling them to make a road and distribute the money equally. The' Board at present are well off for engineering skill; why not send some of it over that way arid lay out a proper road, and save us the •rouble of holding any more coroner's inquests. As far as I can see with the Road Board members, it i 3 every one for his own district, and as that particular district has no representative, it goes to the wall. It is all very well at election time, to hear a candidate for Board Board honors telling us that he will see/ that the money ia fairly spent, &c, &c, it is so much bunkum. I maintain that there has been far too much money spent on the Wainui side by some hundreds, and if the members on this side don't keep their weather eye open, it will all find its way over there, and when all's gone we will find out that our fair share has not been spent on this side, and that w.e have not a road fit to take a Bledge over. Yours, &c., ANOTHER RATEPAYER.
