FROM THE LYTTELTON TIMES. Christchurch, Eriday Evening. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. . Transactions in the grain market since onr last report have neither been numerous nor of any great magnitude. Wheat.—The market is perhaps a shade easier, and fair to good samples are quoted at 3s 3d to 3s 4d. For choice lots and seed purposes, 3s 5d is about the value. Chick wheat is readily saleable, and commands good rates. Oats exhibit no alteration in value. Feed quality are worth 2s 6d» to 2s Bd. Milling, 2s 9d, but the market is without life. Barley continues in good request at former figures. Potatoes.—The demand for potatoes is not of sufficient strength to cause any increase in price, and most of the farmers express a disposition to pit their crops rather than sell at the priceß ruling. Sales now and again, however, transpire at 50s to 553, according to the quality and quantity. Flour.—The enquiry for flour continues fair at £8 to £9. Bran and Sharps, £5 ss. Grass Seed. —Further purchases of Northern cocksfoot are reported. Ryegrass is thoroughly inactive and even the best samples are difficult of sale at 4s 6d to 4s 9d. Dairy Produce.—Butter is still quoted at lOd, and a few sales of cheese are noted at 6d to 6£d. Hams and bacon, in cloth, are at the former figure of Bd, but with an almost exhausted stock.
