STOCK AND STATIONS.

The weather during the past week has been cool, and there has been a nice fall of rain in some portions of the Province, though not in the neighbourhood of Christchurch which is still suffering from drought and looks parched up and very bare of pasture. We hear complaints of the spread of the Aphis over both the turnip and rape crops so that the prospect of winter feed is certainly not improving. At Addington on Wednesday last 4332 sheep arid lambs, 276 cattle, and 92 pigs were yarded for the week. Fat Sheep.—A moderate supply for trade purposes Jof medium quality, for which there was but little competition. Most of the lin"8 were cleared: last weeks quotations being barely maintained. Fat Beef in fair supply, both in number and quality, which met with but little attention from the trade. Prices receded on last \veek!s quotations ; best quality, summer weights, barely making 25s ; medium 21s 6d to 245. "Fat Lambs in short supply, and no demand. Best making 6s 6d; inferior, downwards. Pigs.—Selling freely at fair prices, acaccording to description and quality. Store Stock.—There is no improvement in this description, and with the approaching winter but little prospect of any change. Nothing but well conditioned young cattle claim any attention, and even for these graziers are careless to compete. Cull sheep now find a nominal value for boiling.
