INTERPROVINCIAL TELEGRAMS.
(FROM THE LYTTELTON TIMES.) Nelson, March 18. An important case was held at the Akaka Assessment Court to-day. Several steam millers appealed against their mills being rated- by the Road Board. Mr Percy Adams on their behalf, argued that from the nature of the machinery, and indeed of the mills, which are movable, they partook of the nature of small chattels." He also contended if they were held to be fixtures, they were trade fixtures, and consequently should not be rated. The Assessment Court Judges disallowed assessment on the grounds that even if fixtures, they were trade fixtures.
