Sydney, March 18. At a large meeting of Lambton miners it was decided to join the other collieries in the vend system. The manager of the Lambton mine declines to agree to the miners' decision. The miners have therefore given a fortnight's notice. March 19. Sir Hercule*s Robinson departed today for New Zealand in the corvette Emerald, accompanied by Commodore Wilson in H.M.S. Wolverine. Before his departure His Excellency held a farewell levee, which was attended by a large number of persons. Farewell addresses from both Houses of Parliament were presented to him. Sir Alfred Stephen assumes the position of Lieut.Governor to-morrow. Thousands were present to witness Governor Robinson's departure. A large open-air meeting of an antiChinese character was held in the Domain last night. Another has been called for this evening. Melbourne, March 18.
The rumours of probable changes in the Ministry recently in circulation have now proved devoid of foundation.
