FROM THE LYTTELTON TIMES. Christchurch, Friday Evening. GRAIN AND PRODUCE.

\Ve have had a few days' boisterous weather during the week, which has Gligbfly impeded harvesting. The bulk of the work in the country adjacent to Christ-ci-urch is, however, well in hand, and no in considerable quantity of grain has already passed through the threshers. A number of farmers have been in town during the week, and the business resulting has been a pleasing change to the stagnation we have had to record for many weeks past. Wheat.—First-class milling is quoted At 3s 3d to 3s 4d, and slightly inferior at os t) 3s Id. A few small lots of good old wh.--at have changed hands at 3s 8d to 3s 3d. .

Oats. —We have not much change to note in oats. Sales are reported at 3s l£d to 33 Id, for feed quality ; milling, 3s 2d. jVjOus.—There is a moderate demand for fiour at old rates, but business is limited until deliveries of the new begin. QvA'iS Seed continues to be offered in quantity, though sellers are not disposed to part'with it at the rates tendered. The market is riecidedly easier. First-class is quoted at 5s 6dto 5s 9d ; inferior, 4s 6d to'os. Cocksfoot, both of home growth and from the North Island, is coming forward. In this seed we have also to notice the v/ide gap between dealers and grocers' fjiiree, which in many instances is as much as one Denny per pound. With greatly •,;»ri ailed orders traders do not feel justi- _!••'• il 5 a living the money asked, and are •it iv in not offering more than 50s to 56s i'cs tho best cleaned seed. Several small Mncs have been purchased at these quota-

tions.

Dairy Produce.—Butter is not over phntiirui, and is quoted at lOd to 10£ d. Tho enquiry, however, is very slack. Mc-'! brought forward is going into consumption in the Province. Cheese remains it the same value, 6Ad to 7£d. Hams and bacon, in cloth, Bd.
