ELECTION OF SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

DUVAUCHELLE'S BAY.

The annual meeting of householders of this district was held in the schoolroom on Monday evening, Jan. 27. Mr H. Piper, Commissioner for the district, occupied the chair.

The report and statement of receipts and expenditure for the past year were then read, the latter showing a credit account of £9 Os 6d. The Chairman also stated that the Board of Education had voted the sum of £50 for improvements. Mr Pettigrew moved that this meeting endorses the action taken by the Commissioner during his term of office. Seconded by Mr Cossar, and carried. Nine gentlemen were then nominated as members of the School Committee, and a ballot having been taken, the following were declared duly elected :—W. Pawson, Pettigrew, G-. Cossar, T. Mould, J. Libeau, J. J. Noonan, and Gr. Saddler.

After a vote of thanks to the Chairman the meeting terminated.

At a meeting of the Committee held afterwards, Mr Cossar was elected Chairman.

Applications for the position of master for the school were then considered, and Mr Victor was appointed, subject to the approval of the Board of Education. Tenders were also accepted from Mr R. Noonan for. painting school, and Mr J. Bassett for certain repairs to the same.

The meeting then adjourned.
