AKAROA.

The annual meeting of the householders for the election of a committee for the Akaroa District School was held .on Mon-, day evening last, at the schoolroom. There was a fair attendance. Mr Justin Aylmer was voted to the chair. ' The Chairman commenced by reading the advertisement. He then called upon Mr Meech, the chairman of the' outgoing; conimittebj to j read the report for the past year.' Which was done. - ....,...:.•

On the motion of Mr Sims, the report was received.

\ Mr Garwood proposed a vote of thanks to the outgoing committee, which was seconded by Mr Waeckerle and carried.

The following gentlemen were then nominated as candidates for the new com-; mittee:—Messrs Meech, Brace, Missen," Ban , }, Dalglish, Garwood, Sims, Tosswill, Alger, Wiggins, Henning, Billens, Fentbn and Checkley. A ballot having been taken, resulted as follows r-t-Meech, 47; Wiggins, 28 ; Missen, 20 ; Tosswill, 16 ; Billens,: 15; Fenton, 14 • Dalglish, 10. The Chairman accordingly declared the above-nametl seven gentlemen duly elected, and a vote of thanks having been passed to him, the meeting separated. '■■ Immediately afterwards the newly elected Committe held a meeting, at which Mr Meech was unanimously elected chairman.
