FROM THE LYTTELTON TIMES. *_■ . Christchurch, Friday Evening. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. In the grain market since our last report we have to chronicle a restricted business. Harvesting is now pretty general over the country, and we are glad to say that the reports to hand are confirmatory of what has already been stated, to the effect that the crops have not suffered from the drought to the extent it was feared, and that the yield will be fully up to the average. The heavy downpour of rain which we have had during one or two days, while not lasting long enough to do damage to the grain already cut, will be very welcome to the farmers in bringing on the grass, and freshening up the country generally. Wheat.—Transactions have been limited, and prices remain about the same as last week, viz., 3s lOd to 4s. Oats.—Sales have only been made in small trade lines. Sellers are asking 3s 6d, while buyers only offer 3s 3d. Potatoes. —Are scarcely yet in the market, and deliveries are meagre. Flour.—A more than fair business has been done in this article, and prices are firm at the last quotation of £9 to £10, according to brand. Grass Seed.—A moderate business has transpired in rye grass at 5s 8d for fair farmer's samples, and best dressed at 6s to 6a 3d. Dairy produce.—Butter maintains the slight advance reported within tho last week or two. The enquiry, however, is quiet. It is quoted at B£d to B|d. Cheese is in fair request. Hams and Bacon are unaltered.
